PVA Sponge Roller Pore Foaming Mechanism

There are several foaming mechanism for PVA roller sponge, the commonly use technique is the foaming mechanism using starch as foaming agent.  Apart from using starch as foaming agent, there also have non-starch process and using gas injection.

PVA Sponge Roller Forming Agents

During the reaction stage, the starch granule is added as a foaming agent.  The advantage for the foaming process with starch will generate a consistent open cell pore structure through out the PVA sponge product.  As compare to non-starch process, there is no pore in the PVA sponge, because of this characteristic, the PVA sponge produce not using starch is smoother as compare with the PVA sponge with pore structure.  Gas injection formation technique is mainly for close cell sponge, because of harder to control air distribution bubble during the foam formation processes; the cell is more likely is inconsistent.

Starch – Forming Agent for PVA Roller

The particle replacement technology is the foaming application using starch granule.  An appropriate starch is selected in order matching with the PVA material, and then the formulated ratio being blended with the PVA material during the foaming process.  Once the PVA being formed, the starch will be processed out and leave a consistent pore on the PVA sponge.  The advantage of this process is able to generate consistent pore.  However the final process is importance to ensure starch is completely remove to ensure low or no residue that will cause cross contamination during the cleaning process.

DST technology does supply PVA Sponge Product with either using starch or non-starch as the reacting forming agent.  We would be able to supply difference pore size PVA sponge products by controlling foaming process.  Most commonly use pore size is 30um, 50um, 130um, 200um & 300um.

The PVA Sponge products that DST supplies are manufactured at KJF Taiwan facility.  Our proprietary foaming process not only ensures the pore size of the PVA Sponge but also maintain a high consistency throughout the cross section.  The uniformity of PVA Sponge pore size is the fundamental to ensure detergent fluid could evenly flow through the sponge to clean substance surface.  Any PVA sponge roller without a consistent pore size will affect the detergent fluid and causing some particulate contaminant on the clean substance surface not being effectively removed.
